Ask Me About My City

A Messsage to Philly:

This a shout to all of the locals of Philadelphia from someone who knows you best:

Most people who live in this city are full of pride and passion for it, which is to be expected from us, Philadelphians. However, the down side to this pride is that we wrongly assume that we know everything that we need to know about the city. Just because we know where to get the best cheesesteak in the city or how to get around the traffic traps does not mean that we actually know all of the interesting facts about our city.

Because of our pride in being Philadelphians, we tend to scoff at anyone who is not a Philadelphian, i.e. tourists or "outsiders". It's an exclusive club in Philly where you can't call yourself a Philadelphian unless you know a few things (for that you need to read my "100 Reasons Why Philly is Great" blog). Therefore, we are desperate to ensure that people know we're Philadelphians. One of the quickest ways for you to show that you're not a Philadelphian is by being a tourist in the city. So, Philadelphians never want to go on tours. If there's one thing that matches our passion, it's our stubbornness.

I'm here to tell all the Philadelphians that it is a big mistake not to come on my tour. You'll be surprised how much you will learn. The more you learn about this city, the more you'll love it. The more you learn about this city, the more you'll appreciate how our quirky culture has transcended throughout our history....

The more you learn about this city, the more you'll realize that Philly isn't just a city, it's an experience....

I'm out.
